The objective was to implement a highly automated installation capable of handling complex formulations, multiple raw materials, and different batch sizes, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, traceability, and environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/\">Oliver + Batlle<\/a> participated in the development and implementation of the technological solutions required to meet these objectives, contributing its expertise in dosing systems, manufacturing processes, and process control for the paints industry.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Product to be processed<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The project focused on the manufacturing and filling of <strong>solvent-based industrial paint<\/strong>, intended for the protection and decoration of surfaces, with high requirements in terms of homogeneity, repeatability, and final product performance.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Project objectives<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The company sought a solution that would enable the <strong>manufacturing and filling of a wide variety of products<\/strong>, in different batch sizes, through fully automated and highly controlled processes.<\/p>\n<p>The main technical challenges of the project were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Management of a <strong>large number of raw materials<\/strong>, with more than 60 different products, including solids and liquids, many of them transferred via piping.<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring the <strong>required quality<\/strong> for each formulation, regardless of its complexity.<\/li>\n<li>Guaranteeing <strong>full traceability<\/strong> of raw materials and process operations.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining <strong>optimal safety and hygiene conditions<\/strong>, with a design focused on <strong>zero pollution<\/strong>, for both solids and liquids, despite working with solvent-based products.<\/li>\n<li>Fully automating the production process through <strong>recipe execution from the control system<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Solutions provided by Oliver + Batlle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/\">Oliver + Batlle<\/a> developed and integrated a set of <strong>process and automation solutions<\/strong>, specifically designed to meet the requirements of a leading manufacturer in the sector.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Solid dosing and conveying<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For the handling of solid raw materials, the following solutions were implemented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Installation of four 6 m\u00b3 mini-silos<\/strong> for powder raw materials, with automatic transfer through a <strong>pneumatic conveying system<\/strong> running throughout the plant to the different consumption points. <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-portfolio wp-image-22014 aligncenter\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>Dosing station for solids not stored in silos<\/strong>, supplied from bags or big-bags, with direct pneumatic conveying to the dispersers used for large-batch production.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mechanical conveying system<\/strong> with a capacity of up to 6 t\/h, designed to automatically feed and dose solids to four dispersers located on the process platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Liquid dosing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The solution incorporates an <strong>automatic liquid dosing system<\/strong>, integrated into recipe management, enabling precise dosing of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Major raw materials<\/strong>, such as resins and solvents.<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"> <img decoding=\"async\" <strong>single-shaft and three-shaft dispersers<\/strong>, from which the product is transferred to <strong>intermediate tanks<\/strong> through milling processes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Four automatic dosing stations<\/strong>, capable of managing multiple different products per recipe.<\/li>\n<li>Dosing heads with <strong>horizontal movement<\/strong>, facilitating manual dosing from drums. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-portfolio wp-image-22032 aligncenter\" dispersers, mixers, and milling systems, dedicated to small-batch production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Automation and traceability<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The entire installation is governed by a <strong>fully automatic control system<\/strong>, with recipe management and <strong>communication with the customer\u2019s ERP<\/strong>, enabling centralised control of all manufacturing operations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a <strong>barcode creation and reading system<\/strong> was integrated for manually added products, ensuring <strong>complete traceability<\/strong> of raw materials
