Brief company description<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/\">Oliver + Batlle<\/a> works in collaboration with a company specializing in the production of <strong>emulsifiers<\/strong> (paraffin emulsions), <strong>moisturizing agents<\/strong>, and solutions formulated with fats, waxes, and oils for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and home care sectors. Its focus is on <strong>sustainable innovation<\/strong> and the development of customized products designed to meet the specific needs of each industrial client.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Product to be processed<\/h2>\n<p>Paraffin-in-water emulsion, produced through a <strong>phase inversion process<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(W\/O -&gt; O\/W), with 50% resin content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The process begins with melting and mixing high-viscosity solids and ends with a fluid emulsion after the critical inversion phase. This variation in viscosity requires a<strong> custom-designed anchor agitator<\/strong> and heating at <strong>temperatures<\/strong> <strong>above<\/strong><b> 150\u00b0C.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>3. Objective<\/h2>\n<p>Starting from a consolidated laboratory process for manufacturing this complex emulsion, the need was to scale it up to an industrial level.<\/p>\n<p>The goal was to achieve a<strong> stable dispersion of 50% resin via phase inversion<\/strong>, while avoiding foam formation.<\/p>\n<p>The main technical challenge appeared in the pre-inversion stage, where the product is especially viscous and difficult to mix Additionally, <strong>temperature control and water feed rate<\/strong> were identified as critical factors for final product stability.<\/p>\n<h2>4. O+B SOLUTION<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/empresa\/\">OLIVER + BATLLE<\/a> proposed a <strong>co-development strategy<\/strong> with the customer, using its in-house pilot plant to validate the mixing system design and tailor the equipment to the product&#8217;s characteristics.<\/p>\n<h5>Phase 1 &#8211; Pilot trials<\/h5>\n<p>Three pilot trials were carried out on a<strong> 150 L <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/prod\/agitadores-industriales-polimix-dps-or\/\">Polimix<\/a> system<\/strong>, configured with a <strong>custom anchor (slow shaft)<\/strong> and a <strong>high-speed disperser<\/strong> (<strong>coaxial configuration<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>The trials used thermal oil at <strong>over 150 \u00b0C<\/strong> to reach the required process temperature.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>goal<\/strong> was to validate the mixing capacity for achieving stable phase inversion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase inversion was successfully achieved.<\/li>\n<li>Some stability issues were detected in the batches compared to the target sample, attributed to <strong>process parameters<\/strong> (temperature and water flow) rather than the mixing system.<\/li>\n<li>Equipment performance was excellent in terms of <strong>viscosity handling and behavior under critical conditions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Phase 2 &#8211; Final solution<\/h5>\n<p>After confirming the technical feasibility, the customer acquired:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>1 pilot unit VF-11 Special<\/strong>, with custom-designed anchor<\/li>\n<li><strong>1 thermal oil heater<\/strong> for the VF-11<\/li>\n<li><strong>1 production unit DPS-6000-OR Special<\/strong>, also equipped with the same custom agitator system and prepared for steam heating<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20277 size-portfolio aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/FAT-20241008_160159-1-scaled-e1753343921862-495x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"495\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/FAT-20241008_160159-1-scaled-e1753343921862-495x400.jpg 495w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/FAT-20241008_160159-1-scaled-e1753343921862-845x684.jpg 845w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the manufacturing phase, the customer maintained access to the O+B pilot lab to continue developing the product, ensuring a <strong>smooth transition from pilot to industrial scale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5.
