A.<\/strong>, operates a production facility offering a wide range of high-quality inks for the graphic sector. These products are manufactured using advanced technologies in varnish production and pigment dispersion, ensuring excellent performance and superior print quality.<\/p>\n<p>The company&#8217;s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement has led it to modernise its manufacturing processes to meet the high standards of international markets.<\/p>\n<h2>2. PRODUCT TO BE PROCESSED<\/h2>\n<p>The project focused on optimising the production of a <strong>white printing ink<\/strong>, specifically designed for application on <strong>plastic packaging films<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This white ink acts as an <strong>opaque background layer<\/strong>, playing a key role in the final visual quality by enabling a clear and uniform reproduction of colours printed on top.<\/p>\n<p>Due to its high opacity requirements, the formulation contains a <strong>high concentration of titanium dioxide<\/strong> (<b>TiO?<\/b>) <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 a pigment known for its covering power, but also for its high density, cost, and difficult handling properties.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>3. PROJECT OBJECTIVES<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to implementing the new system, the unloading and dispersion of a single Big Bag of TiO? took approximately <strong>one hour<\/strong>, creating <strong>bottlenecks<\/strong> in the production line.<\/p>\n<p>The client needed to significantly reduce this time without compromising product quality or operational safety.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver + Batlle was tasked with developing a solution capable of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increasing the<strong> speed of<\/strong> <b>TiO? dosing and dispersion.<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Allowing for <strong>continuous<\/strong>, <strong>parallel<\/strong> <strong>operation<\/strong> to avoid production downtime.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Improving handling safety<\/strong> and cleanliness.<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining or enhancing <strong>final product quality<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>4. TECHNICAL SOLUTION IMPLEMENTED BU OLIVER + BATLLE<\/h2>\n<p>The solution integrates a high-capacity, safe and efficient <strong>powder handling system<\/strong>, a<strong> high-performance conical disperser<\/strong>, a <strong>pneumatic transfer and filtration group<\/strong>, and<strong> two gravimetric filling lines\u00a0<\/strong>adapted to multiple packaging formats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Powder handling system<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tubular screw conveyor<\/strong> made of carbon steel, with discharge outlet feeding into the disperser.<\/li>\n<li>Driven by a <strong>9.2kW motor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Powder handling capacity: up to<strong> 13<\/strong> <b>?m\u00b3\/h<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Three loading points:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Two Big Bag inlets<\/strong>, enabling parallel operation (while one bag is being emptied, the next is positioned for uninterrupted feeding)<\/li>\n<li><strong>One manual sack inlet<\/strong>, providing\u00a0 flexibility for smaller batches or special formulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dispersion systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>POLIMIX DPS-7500-TRC conical disperser<\/strong>, engineered for large-scale, high-demand production\n<ul>\n<li>Total capacity: <strong>7,500 litres<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Main motor: <strong>132 kW<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Two dispersing blades: diameters <strong>675 mm and 450 mm<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Half-pipe cooling jacket for temperature control<\/li>\n<li>Vertical condenser with a <strong>2<\/strong> <b>m\u00b2 <\/b>heat exchange surface<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The disperser design ensures effective incorporation of dense pigments and a highly homogeneous mixture.
