In the past, this type of product was supplied in powder or soluble pellets. However, due to the difficulty of handling phytosanitary products in powder and due to their toxic characteristics -they can accumulate in the airways of people-, the decision was made to manufacture them in liquid form in order to avoid these issues.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The main ingredient used for the manufacture of liquid phytosanitary products is the formula&#8217;s <strong>active ingredient<\/strong>, also called <strong>technical active ingredient<\/strong>. This component is normally a powdered product that is introduced into liquid media, which may be water, thinner, oil or a combination of them. The powdered component <strong>must be insoluble <\/strong>and <strong>evenly distributed<\/strong> in the liquid medium. In order to <strong>provide stability and colour<\/strong>, other liquids are added to these dispersions in small amounts, such as dispersing agents, defoamers, thickeners, colourants or other special additives.<\/p>\n<h2>Stages of the manufacturing process of phytosanitary products<\/h2>\n<p>The manufacturing process of phytosanitary products involves the following stages:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Dispersion of powdered ingredients in liquid medium.<\/li>\n<li>Particle size refining and homogenisation.<\/li>\n<li>Filtering<\/li>\n<li>Storage.<\/li>\n<li>Filling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12347 size-full\" title=\"Stages of the manufacturing process of phytosanitary products\" src=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/esquema-fabricacion-fitosanitarios-DEF-ING.jpg\" alt=\"Stages of the manufacturing process of phytosanitary products\" width=\"1000\" height=\"700\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/esquema-fabricacion-fitosanitarios-DEF-ING.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/esquema-fabricacion-fitosanitarios-DEF-ING-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/esquema-fabricacion-fitosanitarios-DEF-ING-768x538.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/esquema-fabricacion-fitosanitarios-DEF-ING-705x494.jpg 705w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>1. Ingredient dispersion<\/h3>\n<p>In order to carry out a good dispersion process during the manufacture of phytosanitary products, <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/prod\/mixing-equipment-dispermix-vf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dispermix<\/a> machinery with portable vessels for batches up to 1,500 l are available. For batches larger than 1,500 l, a platform <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/prod\/mixing-equipment-dispermix-vf-e\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dispermix type E<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/prod\/mixing-equipment-polimix-dps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Polimix<\/a> machinery can be used.<\/p>\n<p>All dispersion processes must include <strong>dust collection systems <\/strong>to avoid environments contaminated with dust which may be toxic on many occasions.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>dispersion and grinding <\/strong>stages during the manufacture of phytosanitary products must be carried out at <strong>controlled temperatures not exceeding 30\u00baC<\/strong>. To avoid exceeding this temperature, it is necessary to have a good <strong>water system <\/strong>for cooling at a recommended temperature of 2\u00baC to 4\u00baC. The vessels used in the dispersion process must have <strong>cooling jackets<\/strong> working with supercooled water.<\/p>\n<p>Many phytosanitary products usually contain chlorine, an element that leads to steel corrosion. For this reason, all equipment used for the manufacture of phytosanitary products must be made with <strong>AISI 316 L stainless steel materials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12335\" src=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dispermix.jpg\" alt=\"dispermix fabricando fitosanitarios\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dispermix.jpg 800w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dispermix-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dispermix-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dispermix-705x396.jpg 705w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>2. Grinding: particle size refining and homogenisation for the manufacture of phytosanitary products.<\/h3>\n<p>In the second manufacturing stage, phytosanitary products must be processed using\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/prod\/immersion-milling-millennium-rs\/\">Millenium RS<\/a>-type grinding equipment for manufacturing sizes up to 2,000 l, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/en\/prod\/continuous-milling-supermill-ehp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supermill EHP<\/a> or PLUS grinding equipment for larger batch sizes. In this process, the aim is to obtain <strong>good particle size distribution<\/strong>, ranging between 5 and 8 microns. Therefore, it will be necessary to use yttrium or zirconium silicate <strong>micro beads <\/strong>in sizes between 0.7 mm and 1.6 mm. This kind of machinery must also have good cooling circuits with supercooled water at a temperature between 2\u00baC and 4\u00baC.<\/p>\n<p>It is important that the parts inside the mills are chemical attack and abrasion resistant.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12337\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12337\" class=\"wp-image-12337 size-full\" title=\"Discos Supermill-EHP\" src=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Discos-Supermill-EHP-copia.jpg\" alt=\"Discos Supermill-EHP\" width=\"800\" height=\"444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Discos-Supermill-EHP-copia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Discos-Supermill-EHP-copia-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Discos-Supermill-EHP-copia-768x426.jpg 768w, https:\/\/oliverbatlle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Discos-Supermill-EHP-copia-705x391.jpg 705w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12337\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Supermill-EHP<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>3. Finishing and storage<\/h3>\n<p>Once the particles have been perfectly dispersed, the <strong>product can be pumped into storage tanks <\/strong>with capacities between 10,000 or 15,000 l. In this vessel, gentle mixing is possible thanks to a <strong>mixer with Sabre turbines<\/strong>. Filtering<\/h3>\n<p>Before packaging a phytosanitary product, it must be filtered. To do this, it is advisable to use <strong>pumping and filtering systems <\/strong>equipped with pneumatic pumps made of AISI 316L <strong>stainless steel<\/strong> and bag filters. The recommended filtration sizes prior to filling range between 50 and 100 microns. In this process stage, impurities that may have accumulated during the manufacturing process are separated from the product.<\/p>\n<h3>5. Filling phytosanitary products<\/h3>\n<p>Liquid phytosanitary products are usually filled in plastic jerry cans with a capacity between 5 l and 25 l.
